Where’s My Damn iPhone - Redux
In AT&T’s ongoing effort to thwart the sites around, that enable the many frustrated customers trying to get a glimpse into the vast queues of those awaiting their iPhone 3G, they have finally implemented a system that will stop the queue sites dead. The oft used character entering field before the query runs.
As a former Systems Admin guy, I can fully understand AT&T wanting to somewhat secure their systems from being constantly hit by thousands of programs getting info. In a way I’m surprised it took them so long to implement this particular system. This one could well be impossible for the queue sites and script owners to script around.
It would be nice if there was a decent way that AT&T could tell customers a more accurate ETA, but in the scheme of things, this issue "should" disappear in about a month or so. Stock will eventually outstrip demand and iPhone’s will be available on both AT&T and Apple shelves.
Cheers,
Shane
