iPhone 3G Advertising, twice as annoying.
The new iPhone 3G ads are starting to flood TV. Talking of how "Some people will love that it’s twice as Fast" I know that there are several thousand people who will be twice as annoyed that they’re advertising hard when they can’t fill the back orders already out there.
The SUPER THREAD now at over 9500 posts, is full of folks getting more irate by the day as their wait gets longer and longer.
I know that good business means that Apple should be drumming up business and increasing awareness of their new product. However the consumer in me still can’t help thinking that Apple and AT&T are slighting those loyal customers that got off their arses and made an effort to get the new iPhone 3G.

Doom 3 on the iPhone?
Joystiq is reporting that it may not be that far fetched. Apparently John Carmack is so enamored with his iPhone that he’d love to see one of id Software titles running on the must have gadget.
ID Software recently launched a mobile team that will tackle hand held titles and the iPhone would make an excellent target.
I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
I wonder where I can get a nice portable keyboard and mouse for the iPhone 3G. Bluetooth of course!

10 Days and counting
Today makes 10 since I ordered my iPhone 3G. In an amazing turn of events, the world hasn’t stopped since I don’t have the latest gadget. Life has continued pretty much as normal and I have been able to function. Sure I’ve had periods where I have been obsessed with refreshing forum threads and queue sites to see where my order is in the order of things.
Overall I’m still looking forward to getting it and don’t regret that I have it on Direct Fulfillment, while around the country people can walk into an apple store and buy it ahead of me. For one thing I live no where near an Apple store and for another I have a phone right now. Sure it’s a crappy Wal-Mart prepaid Go Phone, but it does the job of a phone quite well.
The thread over at the AT&T site is rapidly approaching 9000 posts, but I can see that it’s slowing up. Folks are getting their phones and while there are new people joining and complaining about not having their iPhone 3G after only a couple of days (Newbies!!!!) for the most part things are rolling along.
I have ordered a couple of gadgets for my new gadget and will post reviews as I get to use them. Mainly a Bluetooth
headset and the Invisible Shield.

Where’s my iPhone???
Well I broke down last week and ordered an iPhone 3G black 16G. The bad part of that is that it seems most of the country ordered my phone as well. Demand has far outstripped supply and it’s going to be 2 to 4 weeks before phones started arriving. There are some who are being lucky and getting theirs early. I think that living in the ozarks will do 1 of 2 things. See that I get it early because the store I ordered from has fewer orders than those in bigger cities, or 2 get starved of supply due to being smaller. We’ll see.
There’s a thread HERE that as of this morning had 421 pages and 4205 posts about folks still waiting on their phones. One of the links from there is a way to track where you are in the queue and when you “possibly” could expect your iPhone 3G to ship.

Att itself has a site where you can track your order, but it doesn’t compete with the masochism of seeing just how far away you are from getting that iPhone 3G you just had to have, but couldn’t be bothered waiting in line for 7/11. That being said, there are folks who ordered on the 7/11 who haven’t got there iPhones yet.
The site for att is HERE, you’ll need your receipt details, specifically the Order ID: (last 5 digits), the postcode of the store you ordered from and the iPhone 3G you ordered.
While it looks like it may take a month for me to get my new phone, it should prove entertaining to keep an eye on that thread to see just how big it gets, and how irate people get. Unless Apple and get supply moving and quickly, there will be a LOT of irate customers getting impatient.

iPhone 3G Will it blend?
This little tidbit I picked up from iphonenews.com and now I have a new site I have to check out.
WillItBlend.com is a site devoted to the age old question: will it blend? Who hasn’t wondered if something would go well in a blender?
Definitely worth your time to watch, and I’ll be sure to swing over and see what else they’ve stuck in a blender.
Cheers,
Shane
