New Bling Lust

New item to aim for in my goal of conquering the world and having more time to spend on … well … whatever I damn well please actually.

I’ve been a fan of Doxa watches since reading about them in Clive Cussler novels. However it wasn’t until several years later that I found out you could still get them.

Doxa is the original dive watch and have been around since the 60′s, the company was around much earlier making timepieces but mainly for automotive use.

Occasionally they’ll bring out limited editions, and this particular one caught my eye. If only I had a spare $1,800 kicking around to send to Switzerland.

I’ve always been a firm believer of having good goals to shoot for and rewards for good work.

Looks like I have a lot of work to do and stuff to get going if I’m going to get this reward before they are sold out of this particular model.

Perhaps in the spirit of generating some good Karma, I’ll do a giveaway on Internet Marketers Companion

Cheers,

Shane

iPhone Game Development

Most of you know by nIn my bag todayow that I’m a big fan of Apple products. I’m also a cross platform developer, mostly using REALStudio. It’s been on my todo list for a while now to pick up iPhone/ iPad development.

When I started out learning to program, I found I learned things better when I was putting the knowledge to work. I spent a lot of time working through game books, putting together small games and seeing how the code fit together.

While I was researching iPhone development, I came across this site. iPhone Game Development

When I get a break in my currently long TODO list I think I’ll pick it up and give it a shot. It’s a pretty cheap course and looks like a lot of fun, small things to get you up to speed on creating iPhone and iPad apps.

If anyone has already bought this, feel free to let me know what you think of it.

Cheers,

Shane

Using Mac Steam with case sensitive drive

Smoke at Sunset

This was a quite irksome when Steam was released for mac and it wouldn’t work on my Macbook, due to running a case sensitive drive. It was quite odd, but I guess the default these days is to let programs do what they will.

I found an excellent walk through below on how to get things up and running. It’s a workaround and has some issues if you are a sysadmin type. I did it, it works and I’m up and running with Steam even if it’s running in it’s own disk image.

Remember to move the Steam.app to the disk image prior to creating the alias and enjoy.

You can see the walkthrough here

Mike Keneally

Mike is an extraordinary artist. I first heard him in the Steve Vai band crica 1996 and went on to learn he had played with Frank Zappa in 1980.

If you dig through his site at www.Keneally.com I’m sure you’ll find a link to his diary from the Zappa tours, called 1980 was a long time ago.

One of his side projects was to transcribe some of Vai’s music into Piano Concerto’s which is available around the place also.

Well worth checking out, there is a little bio below.

Enjoy,

Shane

iPad Reviews

Well the iPad reviews are starting to trickle in. I liked this one from PCMag.com enough to let you see it here.

It takes you through, quite quickly I might add, the features of the iPad and it is done very well.

PCMag: Apple iPad video review from PCMag.com Reviews on Vimeo.

Here is an excellent review by Stephen Fry. If you’re Aussie or English you will know who he is, especially if you are a Black Adder fan. If you are American you will know his voice at least from the latest Alice in Wonderland film as the Cheshire Cat.

It’s about 4 pages long but well worth your time.
