A Little Taste of Home
I’m having some of the guys around for beers, ribs and RockBand tonight. As part of that, as we live in a dry county, I have to make a trip to get some beer.
Macadoodles is just across the Missouri border and is HUGE. It has a vast selection of most kinds of alcohol and is worth the extra few minutes it takes to get there as opposed to going south towards Fayetteville.
We tend to be a bunch of beer snobs and like to try new things. The last time we got together, Sal decided on a blind taste test of some domestic light beers. Miller Lite, Coors Light and Bud Light, surprising to all of us Coors Light ended up the taste winner, unsurprisingly Bud Light came out as the worst tasting beer.
With most of us liking German beers, I picked up a case of Becks. As everyone knows, “You don’t have to be Posh to swallow Becks”. As I was looking for something a little different, something caught my eye. It was green and had a kangaroo on it. Upon closer inspection it was a six pack of Coopers Pale Ale. A beer from my home town of Adelaide, South Australia and also happens to be Stacey’s favorite beer.
It’s a smooth beer, and as the ad used to say, “Cloudy but Fine”. Growing up we’d drink Bundy with a Coopers chaser. Ahhhhh the memories and hangovers.
The boys are in for a treat tonight, a little taste from home that doesn’t have Fosters on the can. As all Aussie’s know, we hate Fosters so much, we export it. That way we don’t have to drink it.
Cheers,
Shane
